After the delivery of your baby your care as our patient continues as we support you in this new phase of motherhood. Postpartum can be a challenging time with many physical, mental and emotional changes. Your journey does not end with the delivery of your baby and we will continue our care and relationship with you and your family moving forward.

Postpartum Visits

After delivery of your baby we will see you back in the office for post partum visits.  We routinely see patients at two weeks and six weeks after delivery but are available for additional visits as the need arises.  Goals of post partum care include:

  • Physical healing from delivery
  • Screening for post partum depression and anxiety
  • Examining C-section scars or vaginal tears
  • Breastfeeding support
  • Monitoring of blood pressure
  • Laboratory evaluation if necessary
  • Pregnancy spacing and birth control options

Postpartum Problems

Our goal is for our patients and their support system to have a smooth transition to motherhood but we recognize there may be problems that arise during this journey.  Many postpartum problems can be addressed and treated in our office.  These can include things such as: pain, problems using the bathroom, breastfeeding problems, mastitis and mood changes including depression and anxiety.  Our physicians have experience treating a wide variety of issues that may arise during the post partum period to help you heal.
